Foundation Apprenticeship: Business Skills Level 6
Course information
The Foundation Apprenticeship is completed alongside other school subjects. This course will develop your knowledge of Business and contemporary business in addition to developing your digital skills for success in this field of work. Students will work on projects with an employer. This is an industry-recognised qualification.
Units of study
In order to achieve the full Foundation Apprenticeship L6 in Business Skills, in addition to a previous pass in Higher Business Management and a Work Experience placement, you will undertake two units of PC Passport L6. This will focus on using advanced features of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word packages, with the majority of the units making use of the software, but also some useful theoretical content.
These units also make use of online (‘Web Apps’) functionality, including OneDrive/Teams and the sharing of files – skills becoming increasingly more common in workplaces. There is also the possibility of an additional unit on Microsoft PowerPoint, which allows the NPA PC Passport L6 qualification to be achieved.
Finally, the L6 Contemporary Business Issues unit will be studied, which builds upon knowledge gained from Higher Business Management and focuses in particular on Small and Medium Enterprises.
Assessment methods
Successful completion of all units and work experience placement.
Entry requirements
S6 students who have achieved Higher Business at A or B.
